The FRP Centre provides a range of services designed to ensure comprehensive care for people with chronic kidney disease (CKD), based on three fundamental principles: clinical, psychological and social.
To this end, the FRP provides the following services and facilities:
Facilities – For renal replacement therapy, with the option of a separate room for HBsAg-positive patients.
Medical Team – To provide treatment in line with the best available evidence and current standards of care, drawing on expertise, experience and continuous development of therapeutic strategies for chronic kidney disease.
Social Work – To develop initiatives that enable patients to access haemodialysis treatment and complementary services in an integrated manner, through collaboration with public bodies, the development of coping strategies, and family and community support, while also facilitating adaptation to their new treatment routine.
Nutrition – To assess, advise and prevent conditions associated with malnutrition in people with CKD undergoing haemodialysis, through monitoring of laboratory results and changes in dry weight. Personalised support is provided according to individual intolerances, needs and preferences, together with nutritional education and alternative methods of food preparation and cooking.
Pharmacy – To ensure access to medicines based on pharmacotherapeutic criteria and in compliance with legal requirements. To coordinate, plan and manage activities relating to the medicines supply chain, with the aim of providing people with CKD with treatment in line with the best available evidence and current standards of care.
The Portuguese Renal Foundation has developed software designed to support the reliability and quality of CKD treatment.
The software supports management by centralising all information and making it available quickly, securely and reliably.
NEPHROPLUS “N+” provides comprehensive support across all FRP haemodialysis centres, particularly in the areas of patient administration, billing, electronic clinical records, pharmacy, logistics, and internal information and communication systems.
