Quality Policy

Humanity and dignity in the care of people with chronic kidney disease as biopsychosocial beings.

The key concept of the Portuguese Renal Foundation’s (FRP) Quality Policy is reflected in the organisation’s motto: “Humanity and dignity in the care of people with kidney disease as biopsychosocial beings.
To make the identity of the Portuguese Renal Foundation visually recognisable, the image incorporates elements representing the Foundation’s insignia.
At the centre of the image lies the core of the entire Quality Policy and the starting point for the development of its objectives: “Comprehensive care for people with chronic kidney disease.”
This answers the question that arises when considering the key concept: How does the Portuguese Renal Foundation ensure humane and dignified care for people with kidney disease as biopsychosocial beings? Through comprehensive care for people with chronic kidney disease.

The Quality Policy objectives are therefore structured around four distinct pillars: Biology / Psychology / Social / Community. These four pillars are continuously driven by the principle of “Continuous Improvement”.

The fourth pillar, Community, acts as the link between the Foundation and the wider community, demonstrating that the cycle is not closed. It fosters interaction between people with CKD and the society in which they live, promotes social inclusion, and defines the FRP’s responsibilities towards society and its obligations as a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS).
